SPEAKEASIES are hidden gems popularized during Prohibition - the term speakeasy is thought to have come from when patrons had to whisper (or speak "easy") when attempting to enter a hidden bar.

OFF THE STRIP at Kassi Beach House at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Mediterranean seaside vibe brought to life by LA based SoCal hot spots restaurateur Nick Mathers. Feels like entering into a private beach home with sun-washed patio and several "rooms" with different types of seating throughout. An intimate bar greets you through an archway past the large vases, and a second bar is in the center of the room opposite the kitchen where you can order from 5 different versions of a margarita. Brunch indulges one with bottomless rose ($45. per person) and plenty of shareable appetizers for the whole table - mezze platter served with their freshly baked puccia bread with sides of whipped eggplant, whipped ricotta and white bean dip. They also offer an Italian-style family meal featuring three courses of chef-selected specialties (available to order family-style/4 person minimum).

For a more casual meal - Buddy V’s Ristorante at The Venetian is relaxed comfort food Italian-style from 'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro. Grab a hearty lunch of the delicious Lobster Bisque with puff pastry and the tasty Prosciutto Arugula Pizza with ricotta, mozzarella, basil and sweet & spicey honey.

ARIA Resort & Casino can be compared to an opera aria which is often defined by the emotional content expressed - Aria di bravura fast paced, virtuosic designed to show off with an excess of flamboyant coloratura. But it can also be like an adagio with an unhurried tempo, stately and dynamic - a stand-alone show- stopper. There are many reasons why we feel ARIA is the best resort on The Strip. This 5-star resort designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects is a monumental atrium of stone and glass with an expansive lobby that does not sound like a casino. There is hardly ever a wait at registration, and our room was ready much earlier than the normal check in time. All rooms are completely non-smoking with a serious fine if not followed and entry is safely guarded for guest access to the elevators. Rooms are outfitted with an iPad control for music, lights and curtains with floor-to-ceiling windows, plush beds with custom mattresses, sliding door bathrooms for privacy with deep, oversized soaking tub and luxurious bath products. Public art pieces are everywhere on the property and besides being in one of the best locations - well centered on The Strip, right next door is also the high-end luxury shopping complex Crystals. The spa has heated stone beds imported from Japan and a relaxing salt room with three pools to choose from. Upscale dining at restaurants: Michael Mina's Bardot, Carbone, Sage, and Jean Georges Steakhouse. ARIA's nightclub JEWEL themed VIP suites and 2 levels of unparalleled nightlife experience.

Lunch by the pool was our favourite at ARIA's Salt & Ivy patio bar - healthy & satisfying Avocado Toast leveled-up with pesto, goat cheese, organic poached egg, heirloom carrots and cucumbers with honey vinaigrette on turmeric bread, generous lobster roll with a side of fries, fresh juice blends and locally roasted coffee from Bad Owl.
LOVE ART INSTALLATION
Venetian Resort
The Venetian Las Vegas has unveiled LOVE, a larger-than-life installation in the Waterfall Atrium created by celebrated artist Laura Kimpton as part of her Monumental Word Series. The LOVE installation is perforated with bird-shaped stamps with L-O-V-E spelled out in steel red letters that rise 12 ft tall and collectively span 36 ft across. "LOVE is about being free to love who you want, the way you want,” says Laura Kimpton. “Bird stamps in the letters represent being able to follow your dreams, which is the message that I hope will inspire people as they interact with the piece..."

Sotheby’s Paris Sale - May 16, 2023
If You Loved Season two of The White Lotus directed by Mike White, you'll want to note May 16th, 2023, for a remarkable Sotheby’s Paris sale of 75 hand selected masterworks from Jacques Garcia's decorative arts collection within Château Champ de Bataille - the legendary designer’s Normandy estate. The mass of luxury on display at Jacques Garcia’s Villa Elena - that's the one, the Sicilian abode that stood as the nefarious Palermo palazzo in The White Lotus astounding viewers as much as it did Tanya, who was played by Jennifer Coolidge and won her the Golden Globe Award for best supporting actress. This former 17th-century monastery was designed in the 1600s by Louis Le Vau, the architect renowned for his work on the Palace of Versailles. Jacques Garcia purchased it in 1992 and devotedly restored it over the course of 30 years. Seventy-five richly decorated pieces (hand-selected in honor of Garcia’s milestone birthday last fall) will be up for sale at the auction. Furniture that's relished by royals such as Louis XV–era floral marquetry commode credited to Antoine-Robert Gaudreau, console table fashioned by Adam Weisweiler during Louis XVI’s reign, crafted daybed commemorating the 1810 nuptials of Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress Marie-Louise, and Edo period cabinets of Japanese lacquer that belonged to King William III & Queen Mary II of England. Proceeds of sales will go toward the preservation of the Château.
